fong.co.uk was asked to take part in an interview by Rebecca Covey who is in her final year at Bournemouth University. She was writing her dissertation on "the influence of citizen journalists/ bloggers on local press and it's journalisms looking specifically at Bournemouth local press."
Happy to oblige. |

In his new kitchen Congratulations to Nigel on moving into his new home at the top of our road. Not sure if having a couple of friends on the next two streets, with the Malt and Hops pub so near by, is such a great idea... Good old Southbourne seems to be a good choice. Even the Financial Times said so this weekend gone. What with the artificial reef being made in Boscombe along with new apartments being built plus the fact that larger homes are still available is making this part of Bournemouth a lot more attractive. Back to the land of the living Having not left the house for the last four days and spending most of that time in my dressing gown with a pounding headache, aching joints and a sore throat I finally woke up at 6.30am feeling a lot better. Not 100%, but what the heck.I had the "luxury" of lying on the sofa watching TV most of the day. The aching back and tossing & turning reduce the luxury level somewhat. Anyway, I managed to get through back-to-back episodes of Channel 4's fantastic Shameless series. Seeing as I had loads recorded on my Humax PVR-9200T , I just had to plough on through. One strange thing about the way the Humax does its series recording is that it also recorded the repeat showing the following day. Although me and Angela giggle and belly laugh all the way through, I never realised the depth that the show, the script and the actors have. Each one gets their own show to monologue over, even the little one. Paul Abbott, David Threlfall and the rest of the cast and production team deserve even more awards. Click for some Shameless DVD from Amazon. There is a Complete Series 1-5 boxset with 16 DVDs for about £45. That works out to be about £3 per disk. |

Nikon D40 cashback Just bought a Nikon D40 SLR camera from Amazon UK. They currently, at the time of writing, have it at £276.07 + delivery. That is a pretty good price anyway. I think they must have dropped the price as they have brought out the D40x, but I just wanted to start off with a dSLR without spending too much money. When I bought it the cashback offer wasn't that clear on the page. It was only when I say a Jessops advert in the paper that I thought I bought it too early and missed out on the cashback offer. I looked at the dates and my luck was in. The offer ends 30th June 2008, with last claims to be received by 31st July. The offer also appies to D60 and D80 camera kits. Click for Nikon Cashback Offer Spring 2008. That makes the Nikon D40 I got around £246, which isn't bad at all. Hurry up before they go. |

I have just come to my very last visit to a La Tasca establishment. If you are going to do Spanish tapa as a bar and restaurant, then do it properly for God's sake. |

the big 4-0 OK, in the end I didn't get my rack of lamb and my nice bottle of red wine but what I did get was a surprise party at home, although watching Guy and Laura turn up in their car just as I was getting into the house nearly gave it all away. Those pesky people at work had me believing they were all heading off home and so on. Thanks everyone. It was a really good night - Champagne, vodka, absinthe and whisky (although most of the 12 year old Glenlivet ended up on the floor) made for a lively birthday party. Not so sure about the 10 minute defrosted (if that) lobster and dim sum at 11pm. Photos from the night's shenannigans are here: Gordon's 40th party photos |

How Sad How sad to post my own birthday on my own web site.Anyway, just to say a big thanks to the pressies, balloons around my desk at work and for keeping out my way while I sulk on my 40 years young. A bit of Canard-Duchene Champagne and a drop of Chateau Musar 2000 is called for tonight. |
