Photos up
Thursday, 30 August 2007
Gordon and Angela FongThe majority of the photos are up on the Fong Gallery at this link - Anniversary Party.

Hopefully I will get more from people who were there. Normally I am the one capturing snapshots here and there but I was somewhat preoccupied that day.

What a weekend!
Tuesday, 28 August 2007
I've only got time to drop a quick note to say it was fantastic to see everyone. I hope everyone enjoyed themselves. For a Bank Holiday weekend, the weather came up trumps from the BBQ all the way through to Monday.

I will put some photos up and write more soon.

Obviously it has been a bit hectic over at chez-Fong. A bit maxed out on food and champagne, and I never thought I would say that.

The end of ISDN?
Wednesday, 22 August 2007
ISDN, Integrated Services Digital Network may well be getting phased out by BT.

BBC news story on ISDN

Aww, brings a little tear to your eyes. Probably not. I only mention it as it was around this technology that I had my first real job after leaving university. Working in the cold North East with Mac Connect in Newcastle beyond coming doon South to sunny Bournemouth and working for 4-Sight, cum WAM!NET cum busted thrice over.

Ah well, one for memory lane.

Few more days to go

Party Time
Nearly there. Around 120+ adults and 30+ should be there on the Saturday for most of it, before one of the parents will need to leave and take the kid/s off to bed.

How hard are these things to do? I was planning on it being pretty chilled out, drinks in the garden affair and now it is some kind of multimedia extraveganza, multiple food orders, decorations on tables, and there would have been named seating arrangements until me and the hotel owner told Ange that you couldn't fit everyone into the one function room.

Not sure cutting the Spongebob cake count as a traditional part of these things.

Anyway, photos collected, music on a 1Tb drive and some video left to do.

Important

Reception drinks at 2pm and 1st buffet at 4pm. So those with kids, and adults, you should have a light lunch before you come out. I don't want people to be Stella'd out mid-afternoon causing all sorts of trouble.

Mind the swearing, there'll be kids.
Mind the plants in the garden, there'll be fines for any broken ones.
Mind the projector, as there will be shameful images of you lot appearing on screen.

See you at the Yenton Hotel.

Now that is what I call customer service

Ocean City logo
Ocean City Restaurant
I heard back from Mr Wong, the owner of Ocean City, and he said there will be a cheque waiting for me.

Now that is what I call good cutomer service.

Now I have to get over the shock of how much Horizon Honda want to charge for such a rear bumper to replace!

Car bumper crash
Friday, 17 August 2007
A bit melodramatic but after having lunch at the Ocean City restaurant as a bit of a celebration after finally completing a government tender response, I left to go back to the office. However, at the first roundabout some idiot decided to stop just on the exit. I stopped without any problem, but someone else rolled into the back and damaging my bumper.

It was the owner of the restaurant as well!

Another satisfied visitor
Saturday, 11 August 2007
Had an e-mail and a word of thanks from a Cliff Russell in Ferndown who has used this web site a few times for recommendations on restaurants etc. Nice to see people, other than us daft loonies, finding this site useful. If there are others, feel free to send us a mail with any recommendations of your own and where you went and why.
Hello there,
Just a quick hello and praise for a great website you have, especially the dining out list. I live in Ferndown (near Bournemouth) and have used your advice several times previous and you were spot on with your after-thoughts about the places. I am next visiting the Oriental Garden restaurant in Bournemouth and looking forward to it. I was in Australia for a year and one morning a week we went to a great yum-cha place in Brisbane chinatown and I really miss that a lot. Anyway, thanyou again for a lovely website and wish you both all the best.

Kind Regards,
Cliff

Red Arrows, Bournemouth
The Fongs have commissioned the Red Arrows to do a special anniversary display for us on Friday August the 17th, to celebrate the 10 years.

Be there, around Bournemouth pier with our other 10,000 or more friends to enjoy the event!

Fingers crossed that the weather shines on through to the whole of the bank holiday weekend.

Ellie Hammond Christening

Ellie Hammond
Ellie Hammond
Beautiful little Ellie Hammond had her christening the day after Meg and Rich's wedding.

There were a few sore heads on display as well as Emma wondering what footage was recorded of her the night before. All has been revealed.

Anyway, I have uploaded the photos from Ellie's christening.

Doesn't she look like Matt in this photo!
