Library of Liquor

4 Southbourne Grove, Bournemouth, Dorset BH6 3QZ. (Above the Larder House)

This is a special place indeed, it is Southbourne's very own cocktail bar. This is not a bar that does cocktails, this is a real life, speakeasy cocktail bar. If you do go because of the article, then please do mention my name when booking. Not that you will get any discount, but good to know people are reading this.

It also has serious credentials with James, the owner, having won UK Bartender of the Year 2014, and represented the UK in the World Class competition. I can't believe this is on our doorstep.

The word is already out with people traveling far and wide to visit, once the have seen it in the glossy mags and Sunday supplements.

I am slightly biased, actually I am totally biased because I have been gifted my very own drinks cabinet on the wall. A good return on the "investment" I have made.

You need to book if you would like a table there. It makes a great after-dinner treat once you have finished your meal in the Larder House below.

They do a range of drinks, not just cocktails. You can order wines, soft drinks, a beer or cider, plus a huge range of spirits that you can browse through on their shelves.

Being presented with my drinks cabinet. Oh what a dangerous thing :-0

The cocktail above was made up on the spot by Harry using one of the bottles I have in my cabinet, a Taiwanese whisky. He gave it an initial sweetness of fruit, and then a long dry finish. Xmas puddingy turned into an adult drink maybe.
