A busy weekend of listening to my new shipment from Amazon. Paul Weller: As Is Now - I liked his last one which was an album of covers but now he has returned from his songwriting break with a punchy and rocking affair. Texas: Red Book - I thought their last few studio albums were a bit luke warm as I much prefer their Southside and Rick's Road albums. This one though does hit the spot for me. The collaboration with Paul Buchannan from the Blue Nile is great as well. Nine Horses (David Sylvian collaboration): Snow Borne Sorne - As with Texas, his last couple of albums were not as easily accessible but this definitely brings him back to the fore. A much fuller album lyrically and sonically. The Observer seem to like it and have awarded it 5 stars. |
