For those coming to Ange's 40th birthday evening at Rubyz, she has decided it is going to be a Hawaiian theme. Guess that means grass skirts for the ladies, Hawaiian shirts/shorts for the men. If you want to wear a coconut bikini or mankini then go ahead by all means. Judging by the weather yesterday, looks like Bournemouth might be cold and wet that night, so maybe bring a raincoat as well |

down The downward slide seems to be still on-going. Putting a few more pounds in won't do any harm, he hopes.About time the little guy benefitted. |

The Sainsbury petrol station by Alder Hills now has unleaded at 99.9p so finally we get back under the £1 marker.
Bring on the 3 litre V8 bargain from Autotrader then. Ah, on second thoughts I am a bit skint now have had to put some more money into the Index Tracker to buy low, to make it easier to recover the loses sooner! Pound Cost Averaging - yeah baby. |

Ha, after reading the Motley Fool books and web site a while back, it was tracker funds all the way. Cannot lose, beat the markets.
Hmmm, turbulent times indeed. Arse. Still better than paying overpaid fund managers excessive charges... Bloody red braces and Porches. Hopefully the 0.5% cut in interest rates today will help. |

Rally 2008 I have got round to uploading the photographs from this year's Harley Davidson rally down on Bournemouth Pier. For the past 5 years I have told myself I should get down, have a look and take some photos but only finally got round to it now. The sun was out and the noise of 400+ bikes coming in was tremendous. There was also a really good live band on as well which with the sunny weather added to the atmosphere. The bikes were running a bit late in their journey from Wareham so I would suggest getting down around 11am. Not sure what the usual parade time is. Harley Davidson 2000 - Bournemouth photos |

Not sure if it is a cause for celebration or concern but the web site has reached 100 red wine reviews.I was trying to get there by way of a Bulgarian Cabernet Sauvignon, ahh memories of Uni back in the late 80s, but couldn't find one.
I must have past that milestone a long time back but many of the restaurant ones have gone un-noted and not recorded. Need to work on the white wines now. Know any good ones? |

Mr & Mrs Walmsley Congratulations to the newly wed Mr and Mrs Walmsley.I bet that dance floor at the Miramar Hotel has never seen so much action in its life. Partying Latino style is great fun. Hopefully me doing the robot a la Peter Crouch brought some UK pride back. Check out the wedding photos - seems like some people have taken advatange of the free bar a bit too much, and most of the guilty parties live in Bournemouth. Good speech Mr Rich, however it didn't tug the heart strings as much as Adriana's father's. |

The photos from the last beach BBQ have been uploaded. Finally we get a decent evening to have it without wind, rain or otherwise.
The fireworks were also on which was bit of a bonus. Click for Summer 2008 BBQ . |

I had this annoying crash in Excel 2008 on the Mac when updating a pivot table. Probably started with one of their previous updates. Anyway, I was just moaning about it, my auto-updates thing kicked in, it downloaded and installed the update. I relaunched my boring costs spreadsheet and hey presto I was able to update the pivot table without it crashing. Cheers you guys at MacTopia. About time too. |

From what I heard the Bournemouth Air Festival was a huge success. I had to miss it due to driving up to Sunderland but I definitely caught the traffic on the Friday leaving work. PlanesTV has a preview video on YouTube (click) but you can see more on their corporate web site, although judging by some of the comments it is a bit difficult to use. Anyway, I am looking forward to the air show coming to Bournemouth next year. I think Bournemouth Council has done a great job in holding the event but also reversing its decision on the fireworks so that it was back to normal. The next main event is the Harley Davidson Rally on Saturday the 27th September. We also visited the Swanage folk festival last weekend. I should have took my camera as there were loads of groups of Morris Dancers. OK, not typically my cup of tea but it was funny to see the whole range of ye olde worlde traditional beardy ones, through to old granny cum aerobics group, through to young rapscallions having a laugh for the day. pity the sun didn't come out for the Sunday. |
