Mark and Louise's wedding this weekend
Tuesday, 24 March 2009 20:45

Hotel Fong will be closed this weekend as we are off to Cambridge for the wedding of Mark Reilly and Louise Lenton. First one of the year.

Hopefully the sun will shine down on Trinity College for the day.

Louise and Mark

I will be there to capture the merriment as usual and I think there will be some newly parented people that are going to follow in the footsteps of the Bushnells and Philips and will mostly be getting trollied. That's the only way to go.

£15 to watch a movie!
Saturday, 21 March 2009 20:50

I met up with Max and Stu to watch The Watchmen at the Odeon in town.

Parking in Bournemouth for enough time before and after the movie cost £6, plus I spent a £1 parking behind the cinema only to realise that the movie was for over two hours so I had to move it again.

The whole paying £1 for a premier seat in the middle was a bit duff as well. Remind me not to do it again. When we sat down, because the headrests are quite high for those seats the ones in front actually got in the way. Even worse if you are not that tall!

It was virtually empty anyway. The rows just before the premier section are probably the best ones anyway. No risk of some curly barnet in front of you.

No wonder people rather just buy the DVD when it comes out.

It was a pretty good movie.

Life Insurance, aint it just annoying

Life Insurance
Policies galore
Doesn't it just hit you in the stomach paying out for life insurance.

Very strange and far too grown up.

Hope not to use it too soon!

Planet Earth - DVDs to iron to
Sunday, 15 March 2009 20:19

Since finishing all the DVD boxsets of Spooks until the season before last, I have now moved onto Planet Earth as the DVD boxset to watch whilst doing the ironing.

Fantastic cinematography and now with behind the scenes footage on how they captured their rare moments.

Things like these make the BBC licence fee worth while.

Boscombe Pier is going to be OK
Sunday, 15 March 2009 16:52

Having walked along the Boscombe Pier and along the promenade in the lovely sun this afternoon, I actually believe it will end up being very good in the end.

Looking back from the end of the pier, the frontage and the buildings are all taking shape. It probably looks better that the view from the Bournemouth Pier with its Imax building and flyover.

I think Boscombe deserves a break and it will come.

Fook Africa on Red Nose Day, indeed
Friday, 13 March 2009 20:31

Red Nose Day
Red Nose Day
For the person who said Fook Africa on the Bournemouth Echo web site (before it was taken off which I actually disagree with as it closes off this debate) about Red Nose day I say that is absolutely fine. Red Nose Day is not solely about Africa and if you want to Fook Africa then don’t be a knut and those with similar feelings, dig into your pockets and contribute to something more local.

Come on then, if you can’t think for yourself then take your choice from the Big IssueMND Association, Barnardos and ShelterBreast Cancer Care, Julia's House and Youth Cancer Trust.

Gem Freeman - custom jewellery
Friday, 13 March 2009 11:55

Angela bought a nice bracelet from the Tits 4 tat event last night from someone called Gem Freeman. Angela said we would put a link to her web site after the show.

If you would like to commission a piece of custom jewellery or buy some hand crafted items then that is what Gem does. She is based in Bransgore, Dorset.

Parking woes and ideas
Friday, 13 March 2009 11:07

Parking in BournemouthGood to see some ideas being generated about parking in the area.

Bournemouth Echo article

Personally I would save make parking free for up to 3 or 4 hours. Plenty of time to do relaxed shopping and not having to chase the clock, but time to go to more shops etc as opposed to nipping in for an hour and just the one place.

I don't think it should be free all day as then the places could be taken up with workers, although I think that should be another issue to be dealt with so there are plenty of places just outside of town and not have too many residential restrictions. No point in making town centre parking free, for them all to be taken up by workers' cars and none left for shoppers to use.

Tits 4 Tat
Angela won a day of golf for 4 people at the Tits 4 Tat charity event in Poole last night and hosted by Tasty Marketing.

I can assure you that it had nothing with me (Datacenta Hosting) being a sponsor, honest. Not sure I have enough friends with free time during the week to play golf.

The event was to raise funds for Breast Cancer Care and I hope everyone had a fun time and well doen to everyone for their hard work.

Got my "green waste" bin
Wednesday, 11 March 2009 18:57

Bournemouth Council have finally got me onto their garden waste collection scheme.

Should also save me the trip to the Christchurch recycling centre to dump only a couple of bags off.

Wow, the garden is going to look a treat once my green fingers come back and I start hacking away at everything.

Strange financial times indeed
Friday, 06 March 2009 09:46

base rate
Stonking Interest Rate
My tracker mortgage is 0.51% below base. Base is now 0.5% after yesterday's anouncement by the Bank of England .

Can't wait to get my next letter from the mortgage company. Do I get money back now? Are they going to give me 0.01% interest on my mortgage as if it were a savings account? Very funny.

I should really use that saving and pay some capital off and not blow it on a 50 inch TV. So tempting though...
