Nippon Inn - Japanese restaurant

124 Charminster Road, Bournemouth, BH8 8UT. Tel: 01202 258 859.

This was a new Japanese restaurant for Bournemouth as of our visit in early Jan 2008. Opposite Baraca. There was 6 of us and I think we ordered all of the main courses that they had. The range is a bit limited but they seem to be only just starting and hopefully will stay in business and grow. They have two low tables in the window areas for an authentic sit down feel.

I will say that the Asahi draught beer went down very well. Throw in the edamame and I could sit there all night long. The chicken wings were good and everyone enjoyed those. A bit disappointed in the noodle dish as it looked quite small. Padding a noodle dish out does not cost a lot although it may be that size to keep in with the "Japanese tapas" feel they were going for. Go on, give it a go. We did two rounds of food orders, 6 beers, bottle of wine, a couple of soft drinks and it came to £15 each. Now that was something that impressed me.

<2009 June>Just had dinner there last night and it was very good to see there were plenty of people eating and enjoying themselves. A bit more selection in the menu now. The nigiri sushi selection at £10 for 10 pieces was good, although not entirely sure of the tuna mayo one.

The draft Asahi beer remains a favourite. The noodle dish was bigger this time as was the rice with the chicken curry. />
