Prezzo

God, how many hits does this page get?

Very much an upmarket-wannabe pizza and pasta place. The food is fine and probably reminds me of ASK and such-like. I have had better pizza and pasta elsewhere but it is OK if you want a more modern environment than your average Italian restaurant with your cheeky checky tablecloths.

The only thing I find with these places (I don't mean Prezzo in particular) is that the pizzas are generally very good but the pasta always feel lacking. The pizzas have nice thin but crispy bases, with generous interesting topping which I love but the pastas are were too soft and their sauces lack any depth. Tomato based sauces are too tomato'y by which I mean they haven't got the depth from simmering for hours with garlic, red wine and pepper.

I guess if I want something more authentic Italian in terms of pasta then I should seek out an Italian restaurant.

There's a huge wall of wine bottles behind the bar and the range is pretty good and prices reasonable.

We actually saw the actor who plays DI Burnside from The Bill in the Bournemouth restaurant when were went there for a meal just after the New Year.

We've also been to the Christchurch one before as well. We quite like the place but need to try a few more dishes before giving it a full on recommendation.
