Chamon Tandoori507 Bristol Road, Selly Oak, Birmingham. Tel: 0121 472 1698 I used to go curry restaurant back in the day when I was a student at Birmingham University. Was it really 1986 when I first went!! It was always Chicken Biryani and a nan. Their nan breads used to be the size of sleeping bags! No kidding. Don't know why we ordered one each, seeing as it came with rice and we never got through it. I suppose as a student anything to fill you up is good. I still remember sitting there having my first ever curry, fresh-faced 18 year old away from home. So funny to look back. Down on Bristol Road, Selly Oak near the university. Andy, one of the waiters, even remembered me after 10 years when I took Angela there to my old haunts back in 96. Classy eh. Actually, Andy e-mailed me at the back end of 2005 after stumbling across this web site. He says that the Chamon had been closed for about 6 months doing a refit. I will need to call in next time and check it out. <update>I went back in October 2011, 25 years after I had my first curry there and 15 after I last took Angela there. That is quarter of a century ago. I didn't give Andy enough notice otherwise he would have been there. Great memories and they grow fonder as you grow older.</update>
