Shiraz - Persian Cuisine

181 Charminster Road, Bournemouth BH8 9QQ. Tel: 01202 461 161

This is just past the main traffic lights and before the petrol station.

I had a nice e-mail from them suggesting that I try there as they had read my review about Kolbeh from this web site.

The interior is pretty straightforward but the service and food is very nice. There were three of us who went and we all had lamb in some shape or form.

I had the minced lamb kebabs, that were very flavoursome. I was given an additional dish of sauce to go with the rice which was similar to a light curry which made getting through the rice a lot easier. It was also nice to dip the kebab into as well.

Angela had the lamb shank. That was a sizeable piece of meat, so I had to help. It came a dish of mixed pickle that was very spicy. The rice was interesting. Wasn't just plain white rice but had been flavoured with dill and broad beans that gave it a distinctive colour and taste.

Max had the lamb stew and he must have liked it as it all went. There were pulses in it, so that always gets a thumbs up from Max.

They very kindly gave us three desserts on the house. I mentioned that I got their e-mail Laughing

The saffron and pistachio ice cream; saffron, rose water and almond rice pudding; and the Persian pastry went down a treat. If I had to choose one for next time, then it would be the pastry. Rich but quite light. I thought it was going to be very sweet but it was just right after all that meat.

We had a great time filling our faces there.
