Westpoint BistroCorner of St Michaels Road, Westcliff, Bournemouth, Dorset BH2 5DSTel: 01202 556605 ![]() Westpoint Bistro We arrived here on an early Wednesday night. It was empty with only the chef sitting at a table talking to the waiter. We were shown to our table and presented with menu that is very much geared towards seafood but has enough other options available to please most people. The menu is straightforward and easy. But hard to decide as there were many things we wanted to try. Always a good sign. I went for the seafood platter that had a wide range of little morsels of rollmops, salmon, anchovies, mackeral, prawns, crab and salad. If you are a seafood lover then this will please. Having said that I did look enviously at Tim's plate of scallops with bacon. Normally when I order scallops I end up with 3 or 4 and that is never enough and just disappoints. For my main course I thought I would go for fish and chose the bream on mash and green beans that came with a cream sauce. I do like my fish and I guess I do like it a lot plainer than in restaurants, more like on holiday abroad simply grilled, lots of sun and a cold beer. Anyway, I digress. My bream was nicely cooked and the dish was well seasoned. Again, I had to look on as Tim tucked into his seafood ragout. It had chunks for fish, plump scallops, big prawns, mussels all in a cream sauce with potatoes and veg. I wished I had ordered that as well. This is a relaxed place that does good seafood. If it had the views it might give West Beach a run for its money. As a new venture in these economic times, we wish them the very best. I know what I will be ordering next time.
