Roast Restaurant

I opted for the three course menu which I thought was good value at £26.

Started with chicken livers on toast - light and plump, sauce was very rich and sticky in a nice way.

For my main I had the biggest piece of slow roast belly pork that I have ever seen on a plate as a portion. It defeated me. I couldn't believe. The crackling was great but having all that meat and fat, along with the rich sauce was just too much. I had to have some greens just to offset it. Even when I got home I had to make a fresh smoothie just to bring me back to the land of the low cholestrol. It wasn't bad, no that is not what I was saying. Just it was huge.

I basically gave the Queen of Puddings to my friend Steve, who kindly bought dinner. Looking around though, the crumble looked like a good option.

Steve's stuffed breast of lamb looked minute in comparison but he said that was very rich as well. Wow, we must both go to a light salad bar next.

We had a carafe of the English Bacchus white wine. Much smoother than I have had previously. Maybe being poured out into a carafe helped. At least the bar staff laughed when Steve asked if it was any good, seeing as it was English!
