Sam's Brasserie & Bar

Barley Mow Centre, 11 barley Mow Passage, Chiswick, London W4 4PH.
Tel: 020 8987 0555

This restaurant is hidden from the high street by the Barley Mow pub.

I thought it was interesting that they had daily printed paper place mats showing the wines and food menu.

I had the Spanish charcuterie (aka anti-pasti) for my starter and then the confit of duck leg which was crispy as anything with all the fat rendered away. Normally I would have duck breast and have it medium but this was the opposite end of the scale and it actually made a welcome change. Had a side dish of brocolli, which for such a place I found quite soft and mushy. Strange eh?

I was easily drawn to the spotted dick for my dessert. I thought the custard was a bit weak and runny, but then again I am probably too used to school dinner type custard. The whole thing was very light and in retrospect probably the best thing at the end of a meal.

Angela loved the monkfish but found the portion quite small and disapppointing. No real complaint above that. It was a very nice night out.
