Suk Saran Thai

29 Wimbledon Hill Road. London SW19 7NE. Not too far north of Wimbledon train station.

Was in the area on business and had a meeting that finished about quarter to 12. After walking up the road for a bit trying to spot a decent place to eat we say this place. OK, it was only 10 to 12 and they open at 12 so we waited outside.

We both made the time to about 10 past by the time the waiter opened the door. We were starving by then.

Not much of a greeting and pretty miserable all round. Enough of the old waiter. The place looks nice and modern inside playing on the dark Thai wood.

I had the Tom Yam Goong (hot spicy prawn soup) and that was good. Not overyly hot and had a nice zesty lime taste to balance out the chilli. A couple of large white prawns were inside along with quite a few button mushrooms.

I then had the Pad Thai. Not a great portion as the other half of the place was taken up by some lettuce leaves and a turnip scuplture.

In fact, by the time I drove back to Bournemouth I had to get a KFC variety meal! Honest.

£27 for two people, starter and main course off the lunch menu and a bottle of sparkling water. Plus a tip was added on.

Overall, not bad. I would hope the a la carte portions are a bit bigger though.
