U Vejvodu bar and restaurant
roast leg of pork
U Vejvodu

This is a bar and restaurant on Jillska. Very good bar and the food is excellent value as well.

This bar as a smaller seating area with a few tables at the top, which we ate and drank on a few nights. The food and drink is excellent value so you can't go wrong there.

I had a platter with quarter of a roast duck, two thick slices of roast pork and two thick slices of smoked ham. This came with red and white cabbage along with two different dumplings. I was stuffed after this and it was less than 300 crowns.

Angela had the roast leg of port which was literally a leg held on a spit. You had to carve the whole thing yourself. Don't do what Angela did and mistake the large pile of horseradish as mashed potato and take a mouthful!

Our friends shared a steak platter which had a beef steak, chicken breast and pork. Plus chips, deep friend balls of either dough or dumpling and there was some veg to balance it out,

The menu did have a big selection, if you like meat, which is pretty typical of Czech cuisine. There might have been a couple of vegetarian options.

The beer was around 30 crowns which is less than a pound. I absolutely loved their dark beer. Slightly sweet and very drinkable. Not to everybody's taste mind but I couldn't get enough of it.

There is a large area down the bottom, but I think that gets a bit more smokier. The top end is nice if you can get a table.

I would recommend visiting this place.
