Romano

63 Front Street, Cleadon Village. Tel: 0191 519 1747

This is more of a bistro than Italian restaurant really. Went in for lunch so it was a quick splash and dash. They had a good menu with a wide range of pasta, pizza and meat dishes. Me and Angela went for a linguine with prawns, chilli, rocket and parmesan. There was enough garlic in it to keep the colds away for the next few winters. It was nice enough but a bit full on for the garlic. The carbonara was one of my choices and maybe I should have gone for that.

Having said that, all the steak dishes that were coming out for the few other tables looked spot on. The lamb shank also looked inviting from the menu. Deserves another visit at night rather than a cold and wet north east day.
