Always a gem to be found in the New Forest

Not only is Bournemouth the best place to live in the UK, fact, it also holds some great little places to eat and drink. Little gems that not everyone knows or lets on.

The Mill at Gordleton is somewhere we went last night. We drove there a couple of years ago but I think we had missed the lunch service or they were being done up or something so we just had a quick nose around the place and left. It was probably pretty chilly if I recall correctly.

Anyway, we decided to pop by last night on the off chance. It was that or the Waterford Lodge just to try somewhere new.

This is a beautiful little place, with a nice bar, restaurant and gardens. Although it wasn't a particularly nice summer's evening, as it is still May, I can imagine it being fantastic if it was.

Read about our dinner there.

Bournemouth is definitely the nicest place to live in the UK

What's better than coming back from work, grabbing a few things form the fridge, getting down onto the beach and stoking up a little BBQ?

OK, a bit more sun and less wind chill, but the fact that we can do it and still enjoy it shows that Bournemouth really is the nicest place to live in the UK. Fact, the Rightmove survey says so.

Boring Royal wedding, great street party

Although I wasn't that bothered about the wedding itself, some neighbours on the street organised a party and we had a great time.

We had some friends round as well and people were cooking, chatting and the kids played well together.

A couple of police officers doing the rounds popped in. They said we were only the second one that they have seen. Goes to show what a great street we are on and the fantastic neighbours. Well done Herberton Road!

Brother buys 2nd house.

Now Graham in America has bought a second home to rent out. What's with everyone right now?

I better get saving for a deposit then. Bargains to be had out there.
