This is a Portuguese 'tapas' place, cafe style.

Be warned, there portions for their starters can be very large. We are more used to the sorry excuses for tapas sold by La Tasca and such like, so we ended up over ordering by a long way. Normally 5 dishes would be easy for us, but not at this place.

We ordered the following

  • Octopus Salad - nice
  • Squid rings - big and lots
  • 'Parma' ham and melon - lots, but this one we took away
  • Beef and chips - it was like a large rump steak had been cut into chunks with chips and gravy
  • Belly pork - very tasty smokey grilled meat
  • plus there was a bowl full of black and green olives and bread

Yup, very much defeated. We should have cut back by two dishes and definitely one of the meat ones.

We had a refreshing Vinho Verde as well. It all came to £48 including a tip, but we could have taken off about £18 and still would have been full.

<2013 Update>

We never learnt from our first time there. We went back again a couple of times in 2013 and over ordered again. There steak is absolutely huge as well. Huge.

Not really complaining as it is great value, just worried about us wasting food, which is a big sin :-)

Those are starters!

Steak that comes with rice and chips, and salad for good measure. Amazing value.

Angela's seafood skewer.

We went back the next day with other friends. I kept clear of the steak and had a mixed seafood grill. Just look at all the chips and potatoes.

We would recommend giving this place a try but heed our advice above.
