Crispy Duck Chinese Restaurant - Chinatown

7 Gerrard Street, London, W1D 5PH.

I kept going back to this place as I enjoyed the food and thought it was good value.

What I hate about Chinatown is the way they dupe you into double tipping. Most places will add 10% automatically. Not I find unacceptable is the way they put the bill down without any itemisation and they even had a small handwritten message sellotaped down on the metal dish saying that good service deserves a tip.

Is it better to gain a few extra pounds by this dubious method or have me and my family coming back over the next few years.

Unfortunately some restaurant owners in Chinatown are selfish arseholes.

This was very busy with people queuing into the street. Decor and everything was pretty average but the prices were very reasonable.

Food came out pretty quickly and we managed to eat loads. A huge plate of Kai Lan, a Chinese green, came out along with dim sum and noodles.

Wouldn't say it is at the top end of things but no real need for the faff and expense. This will do for a good feed.

<update> I went by myself one Friday night. I got Roast Duck with rice and that was a large portion at a bargain price of £5.30. I then treated myself to the braised oyster and pork belly at £11, seeing as I did not go for a starter. Fast service all round.
