Mae Ping Thai Restaurant

This is part of a chain that also has restaurants around the south London region.

It has a very pleasing modern decor with Thai touches in the form of ornaments and colour. There is quite an extensive and interesting menu. As we were driving afterwards I didn't look at the drinks menu.

We skipped the starters and went straight onto main course. We ordered four that was made up of the following.

Steamed sea bass with ginger and spring onion. This had a light and sweet soy sauce.

Duck with tamarind sauce. The duck had a crispy skin and surrounded by a sweet sauce with crispy lotus root sprinkled on top.

Prawn Pad Thai. It came with large prawns but found the noodles was coated in too much sauce. I prefer it much plainer.

Chicken green curry. The chicken still moist, the sauce has just the level of spice that I like. Would have liked slightly larger pieces of aubergine and bigger peas but it was a good standard.

For me this was the best Thai meal I have had in terms of the food and the surroundings. True, I may have had a better dishes here and there but as a complete experience this was very, very good.
