Cuccinis Italian Restaurant

218 Old Christchurch Road, Bournemouth, BH1 1PE. Tel: 01202 780 882

I have been here before when it was smaller but this review is from our work's Xmas party.

There was a glass of prosecco waiting for us on arrival whilst we congregated on around the comfy sofas until everyone had turned up. More on the sofa later.

The place has a nicely lit interior with lots of brown hue around unlike many other places with white light bulbs over boring table and carpet. It was warm as well. A bit too warm at times which is why the manager came round to the back where we were sitting to adjust things. Nice of him to check.

There was about 22 of us so we were in the back on some kind of L-shaped setting.

I had a prawn with avocado with red onion and sweetcorn. It was quite nice, but the sweetcorn seemed just strange to me and made it very 70s, not that I was eating at restaurants int he 70s.

The main course was the slow cooked lamb in red wine sauce. Now that was really lovely. Very tender. Other people said that the sauce could have done with a bit of a lift though. The roast potatoes went down an absolute treat for everyone.

Xmas Party

Christmas chocolate log was a bit non-descript for me. The house red and white wine were very drinkable as well.

We all had a great time. Food and service was good. A nice venue for a Xmas party for work if you are looking for such a place.

Ah, back to the sofa thing. Just make sure there isn't someone sitting on the back of the sofa if you are the last person to get up. Someone, albeit absolutely their fault for doing so, was perched on the back as a couple of people got up off the sofa to leave. Well there was a loud bang and when I looked over (I was halfway toards the door so nothing to do with me) there was a woman getting up all dazed and holding her face after she smacked it right into the floor. Be warned....didn't your mother tell you not to do that.
