I've had one person say this place was really good, different and cheap and had other people say it was a bit weird and the meat curries were all full of bones.

All I know it was going to be different, so always a good reason to give it a try.

The first thing you find is that the menu is just not really recognisable. There are mention of rice parcels, crepe, chutnies and other interesting things that we had no idea what they were.

We went with a mixed starter, the non-veg one. I was told the veggie one was really good so will try that next. It was nice that they just brough glasses of water without asking. They also bring the mains when they are ready, which is fine with me as Chinese eating is just the same.

I went for a for a fish curry that came with four rice dumplings and comes with other chutnies that I didn't exactly recognise. Even though there was only a small dollop of curry, boy it was so hot and I knew it the day after. The rice dumplings were very filling as well. I can understand why it would work as an authentic meal but it wasn't exactly the best for me.

Angela however got the best deal I think. We both got a deal as it was pretty cheap in my view. She ordered one of the 'dosa', whatever that was. Out came a plate with a huge folded pancake on top.On opening it up, there was a filling of meat and potato making it like an uncrimped pasty.

The pancake itself was so tasty that you could just eat that and you'd be happy. The filling went well and it came with the a dal that was again so tasty that I tried making it at home for the first time. My attempt was no where near. The chutnies were again a bit non-descript but I guess they are there as a cooling element.

Anyway, I know I will be going for the Dosa myself next time.

I bought a couple of the desserts they had at the counter to take home. Very, very stodgy although they looked so inviting.

I like these kinds of places. I might not have ordered right this time but it gives an opportunity to come back and try more. All very interesting stuff. The decor wont be to everyone's taste and you should treat it as a high end cafe serving authentic good value Sri Lankan and South Indian food. Even the music was groovy!
