If after visiting the scenic Gold Hill, the backdrop to the famous Hovis bread adverts, you fancy something to eat then I would recommend Turnbulls.

There was a huge ripe and oozing gorgonzola cheese on the front counter which sort of sealed it as a place to try.

A big cheese

Angela had the spinach and cheese quiche type thing that was encased in filo pastry. That was very nice. Absolutely packed full of spinach and goodness. I had a mixed plate which comprise of a slice of aforementioned gorgonzola cheese, some fennel seed infused salami and game pate, all served with a small chunk of bread and salad. I did have to ask for another slice of bread so I could mop up the remaining cheese. They kindly offered two thick slices but one was enough.

Customer service was very good. Aside from me asking for more bread, we had the tea pot topped up, and two plates of scones warming up. They quickly did as requested with no fuss.

I can imagine this place being filled constantly during summer. Get there before the madding crowds I'd say.
