<update 2015-09>

We had the 2008 this time at Hotel du Vin in Poole and as soon as I saw the name and a reasonable price, it had to be done. Still enjoyed it. It was good to move on from the Rose that didn't hit the heights that we would have liked during our wedding anniversary meal. The search continues for the elusive Rose that Angela had at the Harrogate Hotel du Vin in 2013.

Having already tried a Chardonnay by Geoff Merrill I sort of knew what to expect. A deep golden colour and smooth oakey
finish. I have also had the Cabernet Sauvignon by the trio of Botham, Merrill and Willis. Now that was strange. Talk about wood!

I was intrigued as to what this would be like. I expected oak, but wondered whether it was just going to be too much.

In the end, it was good. As expected it was very golden. The colour was more like a dessert wine. Very smooth and very enjoyable.

I got this case from Tesco which had a special on which brought the price down from £51 to £36 making it £6 a bottle. For the Chardonnay it is a bit of a bargain to get that level of opulence but the Cabernet Sauvignon disappointed.
