I have just come to my very last visit to a La Tasca establishment. If you are going to do Spanish tapa as a bar and restaurant, then do it properly for God's sake.

I have suffered the ones in Leicester and Newcastle as they were bearable and I was hungry.

However, going to the one in Bournemouth tonight with some friends, even though Mark and Louise (who weren't with us) would have been annoyed at me visiting the place instead of Bournemouth's Tapas Plus restaurant, we entered with the aim of having a few drinks and the intention that if we stayed a bit longer we could get a few portions of tapas along the way.

Oh no, it wasn't going to be that easy.

I askd for a half a bottle of Manzanilla Alegria , through Gene who was buying, to be promptly told that it was a dessert wine. Hmmm, I thought I might have made a mistake so I ordered the Manzanilla La Gitana, which I have had before. Not sure the bar-person totally got it. After she consulted with someone else, the bottle finally came. Actually I would have preferred my first choice just to have tried something new and different.

I then asked if they did roasted almonds or other snacks, just so we could nibble at the bar and for me to have something to go with my sherry. We got just the same vacant look as we got when we ordered the original bottle of "not a dessert wine you cretin".

No more. Had enough of the place and the charade! Goodbye La Tasca.
