Charles Street, Leicester. Opposite Kwik Fit.

We went in one Saturday afternoon but the place was virtually empty. for the most part, but a few more people trickled in about 2pm. Nice modern minimalist bar with generous seating around. I get the feeling that it probably does get really busy at night.

The bar has a good selection of drinks and even had the Japanese Kirin beer on draft. Then again its probably one of those brewed in the UK under license scenarios.

I was in the mood for a cocktail so I ordered my usual Mojito which acts as a barometer of how mandy they are. It was strong and very nice. Angela had a lime and soda and both drinks were less than £4. Not bad.

I thought the food was good as well. Its hard to find a bar that is brave enough to cook the pasta so that it has a little bit of a bite left and not so soft that it reminds you of school or your mother's (as long as she is not Italian) cooking. Anyway, the carbonara was good and salty with lots of pepper, although the ham was in the shape of parma ham and not bacon/pancetta. Angela liked her Szechuan chicken wrap as well.

Next time I am up in Leicester visiting the out-laws this will be a handy resting point.
