For a long time the pub never really took my fancy. Always looked look and old-world pub too much but it probably has had a bit of a facelift recently and actually it is a pleasant enough place for a drink, with nice views and does OK food.
They do something called a Deli Board, so a wooden base comes out with chicken on, ham, baked Camenbert, olives, oil, sun dried tomatoes and bread and that is fantastic for munching on with your drinks.
One night we also tried something from their main menu and specials board. They brought the wrong deli board but we had it just the same. Angela's chicken and smoked ham salad was nice, but a bit too much after the chicken/ham from the deli board.
I had the belly pork. Always something different for a pub to put on so I thought I would try it. The meat itself wasn't too bad but the presentation was all a bit too plain with regards to the veg on the plate. One pet hate is having bolied potatoes with the skin on. I know it is good for you and something I would probably do at home, but not for a meal I pay for.
All that aside, I will probably keep popping in now and again as since moving home further along Southbourne this will replace The Grange as the pub we nip into on our walks.
