Goemon Ramen Bar

I've already been to Sushi Garden, which is further up on the same street, so thought I would try this place next time I was in Brighton.

This is more of a cafe style place than the wood panelled restaurant of the other place. Think cheap and cheerful.

I had the spicy chicken wings. I half expected them to be crispy fried but came with a soft coating nor was it very spicy. Wasn't terrible but not what I expected.

The tsukemono pickles were nice.

The tofu hot pot, came as a bowl with big cubes of soft tofu in a light dashi stock. There were was a soy sauce bowl and dishes of spring onions, ginger and condiments to adorn the tofu. Not the easiest of eating and I had to resort to a spoon on several occasions. Again, fine and I felt I needed a protein boost anyway.

I went for a medium bowl of Tonkotsu Ramen. I did enjoy that. The broth was very rich indeed. I should have touched it up with some salt or soy sauce but that is more my taste buds than anyone else.

Like I said cheep and cheerful, and if all I wanted was a no-fuss big bowl of noodles then yes I'd be back. If I wanted something a bit plusher with the other half, then I'd go to the other one up the road.
