The Three Tuns

Ringwood Road, Bransgore, Hampshire BH23 8JH. Tel: 01425 672232

This is a country pub in Bransgore that probably doesn't do pub grub in the usual sense but is more of a restaurant with restaurant prices.
I had the liver and was slightly disappointed that it didn't come out a bit more medium, although I guess I should have asked for it to be so. The crispy bacon on top as promised in the menu was an average supermarket looking piece of bacon that definitely was not crispy. It had the white dots of residue that bacon can develop when grilled and was not a good look. Overall it was OK. I like liver and was in the mood for it and wolfed it all down.

Angela had the rack of lamb which was nice, pink and tender. The fat could have been rendered a bit more. Again only a minor gripe as it all disappeared.

No complaints with the rich chocolate tart and clotted cream. The chocolate was dark and indeed rich. Not overly sweet, which can be an cheap easy way out, but this was thick, smooth and delicious.

They have quite an extensive menu with lots of specials on the boards as well.

The Three Tuns is a nice place and worth going to when you take a weekend venture into the New Forest.

Have been back a second time now, in Dec 2011. Prices still edging on £££ for pub grub.

This time I wasn't in the mood for a big meal as there was a big pot of beef and Chinese mushrooms waiting at home so I went for a the snails and chips. The snails were pretty non-descript, even though the menu promised they would be the tastiest ever. Chips were a bit too thick so the insides couldn't be nice and fluffy.

Angela had the sunday roast. I think the that was good.
