Tuk Tuk Thai restaurant

250 Charminster Road, Bournemouth, BH8 9RR. Tel: 01202 859 993.

This restaurant towards the other end of Charminster is quite noticeable with the tuk-tuk cycle outside. I have seen it many times but have generally opted for Bangkok Palace instead.

I decided to give it a try with Angela during July 07. Still cannot bring myself to go back to Thai's Smile since my last drunken episode there! It was a bank holiday weekend, I had a lot of work on, a lot of stress and friends around. A few too many beers later.... The shame of it all. I did get a delivery from there though the other night so I am slowly rehabilitating myself.

Anyway, back to Tuk Tuk Thai. This is a much more brighter and larger place than Bangkok Palace  nearby. Small tables and wicker chairs dominate. Angela said she felt a bit uncomfortable in those chairs for some reason although not as bad as those in Funki Sushi. Service is spritely and the food was good.

I went for the green curry as that is usual my tester for any new Thai restaurant I go to as a benchmark. Good but not as good as Thai's Smile in Boscombe. We had the Pad Thai and that was of a good standard. Can't remember what else we ordered, it might have been a squid dish and some rice. We were stuffed at the end. We opted not to have starters and went for an extra main course, which sometimes represents better value. A good hint for you there.

If you have never been then it is worth trying.

I have about 3 or 4 other Thai restaurants in Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole to get around to get a fuller set!
