Koh Thai Tapas
Whilst driving to work over the years I have seen many reincarnations of this corner establishment. Some had a good comments others may not have.

I thought it would be tough for this Thai food based tapas bar. I guess anything is a tapas bar if you serve small enough portions.

The Bournemouth Echo had given it a good review. Always to be taken with a pinch of salt really but when someone from work said they have been a couple of times and found it OK then I might as well give it a go.

It was a late Monday night coming to 10pm and there were only a few tables in. The door was locked, as I had been warned about, supposedly being opposite the 'crescent' has its downsides. Once we were let it we were able to sit down and relax to the chillout tunes being played.

They had a few draft beers on tap which is good to see in a restaurant but then again this is also touted as a cocktail bar so the focus is on both I guess. I had the Tiger beer.

We ordered a few dishes. When I say a few I mean: fried tofu, chicken wings, chicken satay, BBQ ribs, chicken and noodles, beef salad, beef curry, prawn soup and dim sum.

Aside from the tofu, everything got a big thumbs up. It was really tasty. The chilli heat was all fresh and lively, the soup was punctuated with good lemongrass and lime overtones, the chicken noodles (more like ho fun) would have been a great choice for me if I wanted a main course to myself. Chicken wings had a crispy skin and tender meat. I didn't mind getting sticky with that and the ribs.

No faulting the food. Only real comment I can make is that the cultery was all a bit Tesco Value. It should match the quality of the food with a bit weight and class it deserves.

With three drinks the meal came to £57 for three people.

This is now a big dilemma. The Thai's Smile in Boscombe was always a favourite but the last couple of times the green curry hasn't come up to the level of old. Could this place out-Thai the Thai restaurant? Maybe.
