Barcelona is an excellent place to visit. We have been there twice now and I would go back at the drop of a hat. The fact that Ryan Air flys there (well to Girona which is about an hours coach trip away) for around £1 to £6 for the main off-peak days, plus taxes, makes it very easy to get to.

I just love the food there. Food and drink can be very cheap and reasonable. Be warned though, don't drink on La Rambla unless you have deep pockets. Although the views can be OK, watching people pass by but £6 a drink is a bit much especially if you turn off onto one of the may side streets then things come down to 2 or 3 euros per pint.

We went in May 2003 and then back again in Feb 2004. Even though May was not the height of summer it was definitely hot by UK standards and the sun did beat down on us during our open top bus tour. February was much cooler and we had to wrap up warm when venturing out at night.
