Sad news of Big Issue seller's death in Westbourne

Big Issue, Westbourne
Sad News
It was sad to hear the news of the death of the Big Issue seller in Westbourne. I had bought my last copy of the Big Issue from him a few weeks back when me and Angela were babysitting for Chris and Jules.

A very quiet chap that stood outside of Marks and Spencers. He wasn't very vocal in the way that many other sellers are and was the pinnacle of politeness when I bought a copy off him and let him keep the change. Less so for the one at the bottom of the escalators in Asda who assumed the change was for him and didn't offer it back.

Anyway, back to Westbourne. When I first moved to the Bournemouth area I lived near Westbourne and would frequently pop there to do my shopping. Before M&S, the place was a Waitrose supermarket. What really struck me was the fact that the well-to-do and wealthy (I assume as they shop at Waitrose most days which aint cheap) would always be friendly to the Big Issue seller, chat with him and would buy copies from him without prompting. Not sure if this was the same person there since '96 but the principle remains the same. Two ends of the scale but a common dignity.

All very pleasing to see and it prompted me to look into what was behind the Big Issue and how it helps the homeless.

We can just hope justice prevails.

Euro Millions
Countdown to the lottery
This Friday we at work have undertaken an great investment opportunity. £1.50 gives those that signed up to the syndicate an equal share in some worthless pieces of paper.

Should we or should we not come to work on Monday, that is the big question. Should we be stealing a couple of this big Ikea bags so we can stash the huge pile of notes from the £110,000,000 Euro Millions rollover lottery draw.

Yup, I think so. Or at least I hope so, or at least I wish, or plead.... or anything.....

I shall wait patiently with my glass of Sancerre and plate of seafood. Oh the highlife has started.

BrusselsYet another feast at the infamous Mexican Grill in Overijse. Plates full of whelks, prawns, smoked salmon, oysters and crab claws, inter-dispersed with salad just to be healthy. Yum, yum.

Was good to see Tom, Sharon and the kids. Unfortunately Tom sustained a football injury on the Saturday leading his team to a glorious draw, I think.

Didn't make it into Brussels really, only to town of Monchau that was in Germany and had an all-year-round Christmas shop, and to Antwerp on the last day.

Christchurch Food Festival
Christchurch Food Festival
Restaurants and eateries are so varied around here.

From Gary Rhodes's restaurant for lunch to a Harvester for dinner in the same day through to Iranian kebabs in town the next week. That is how we roll around here.

That reminds me, the Christchurch Food Festival is coming up at the begining of May.

No shoes, just a new piece of art

Having sat up early in bed browsing Westover Gallery's website we both seemed to agree on the same piece once we popped into the gallery.

Richard Rowan does quite stunning landscapes although Ange did like one by another artist that looked like something that your English nan would have but I quickly sidestepped that one. This artist had a beautiful piece on glass that was absolutely stunning but 5-G is a bit much to pay. Not won the lottery just yet.

The one we chose should offset the magnolia wall in the lounge no end!
